Bacton Wood also called Witton Woods

This is a large and hilly wood a few km to the east of North Walsham, about 110 hectares (280 acres) in area. It is well-maintained and is a credit to the Forestry Commission and North Norfolk District Council. There is something for everyone. There are several well-surfaced routes, the longest of which is about 4 km around. This route has a very steep if short hill. To go down it rather than up do the route clockwise. If you want rougher riding you can go off through the woods where there are many tracks. On the north side there is an area of quite challenging rides. If cycling from North Walsham take the B1150 Bacton Road and turn sharp right just before Edingthorpe Green where there is a sign to a wood yard. After about 300m there is a left turn into a gravel track signed for the wood.
