Books about gliding by Martin Simons

I have only recently been introduced to Martin's books and I am very impressed. He writes simply and thoroughly and always includes those small points that really help you understand. His drawings are superb. I am now working my way through the books and will add my reviews when done. Of course you could get a copy yourself in the meantime.

There are four books that are of particular interest to model aircraft flyers: Slingsby Sailplanes, Gliding With Radio Control, Model Flight and Model Aircraft Aerodynamics. I reviewed these for Radio Control Soaring Digest. As each is published I add them here. If a button doesn't work I haven't yet published it.

Brief personal history from the back cover of the Aerodynamics book (2015). "Martin Simons' interest in aviation goes back more than seventy years. He remains actively involved in designing, building and flying model aircraft and full-scale sailplanes. Born in England in 1930, he was a teacher and became a lecturer in education in London University. He now lives in Australia where for twenty-five years he was a senior lecturer in education at the University of Adelaide. He has published numerous articles and several books on full-sized sailplanes and model flying and was the editor of Australian Gliding magazine for ten years. In 2006 he was awarded the Gehriger Diploma by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale". (FAI)
