British Model Flying Association BMFA

Formed just over a hundred years ago, it was known for many years as the Society of Model Aeronautical Engineers (pronounced 'SMAY'), which I think was a more noble title. This excellent association looks after UK model aircraft flying. This includes negotiating with the abominable Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in its repeated attempts to ground model flying and flog the airways entirely off to the moneygrubbers. There are other model associations but, unless you have a good reason to join one of those, this is the one for you

It organises our insurance, runs competitions, sets up a system to help flyers improve their skills and on Tuesday evenings has weekly zoom webinars that it calls 'In The Air Tonight' (ITAT). Past sessions are available as youtube videos by clicking the button below, where you can also register for future sessions. It has leased a flying site at Buckminster in Leicestershire, renovated the buildings and built runways and control line circles. Competitions and other events are held there. Members receive a quarterly magazine by post. It is excellent value for money too.
